How to Cook Raw ShrimpIf you love shrimp, you may be wondering how to cook raw shrimp to perfection. The good news is that it doesn’t matter how you handle the job – in the microwave; boiling; or on the grill – you can make your next shrimp meal taste great. Here are a few tips on how to cook raw shrimp several different ways:

  • In the Microwave. One of the fastest and simplest ways to cook raw shrimp is in the microwave oven. The key here is to be very careful not to overcook it. Start with a low setting for a just a minute or so and keep cooking until it reaches the temperature and texture you like best.
  • On the Stovetop. Boiling shrimp is quick and easy, but it is easy to overcook it, so be sure not to leave small to medium shrimp in boiling water longer than 2-3 minutes and larger ones no more than 4-5 minutes.
  • In the Oven. Cooking shrimp in the oven is ultra-easy. Simply wrap your shrimp in some aluminum foil with a little butter and cook at 325 degrees for about five minutes. It’s that easy!
  • On the Grill. Although tasty, it can be a bit harder to cook shrimp on the grill. The best way is to use skewers to keep it from slipping through the grill and into the fire. Be sure to turn your shrimp often to keep it from overcooking or even burning.
  • Learning how to cook raw shrimp is as easy as 1-2-3; if, of course, you use the simple tips described above.
