When it comes to grilling on a charcoal grill, there’s one thing that must be done right the first time: lighting it. Have you ever wondered how to light a charcoal grill? If so you are about to find out:
- Layer your charcoal in accordance to what you will be cooking (one layer is fine for burgers, but you’ll need multiple layers for cooking thicker steaks or other meats).
- Stack some of your charcoal in a cone shape
- Pour lighter fluid over the briquettes
- Let fluid soak into charcoal for about one minute
- Using a long match or stick lighter, light the charcoal from the bottom in at least 2-3 places
- Let coals burn until they turn white
- Spread hot coals evenly along bottom of grill
- Close the lid to your grill and let stand for five minutes
- Begin grilling meats and vegetables
